Your child’s funeral or memorial is your final, tender act of parenting. Planning this farewell during a time of immense grief is challenging, but also incredibly special. You’ll need help, resources, people to care for your basic needs, and also someone to present you with your options in a most and gentle way. The Last Hurrah Team are able to serve you in a compassionate, slow, yet proactive way at this very sad time.

We offer assistance to families who cannot easily afford a funeral like wholesale prices on coffins and other special care for families dealing with the loss of a baby or child. We can cater for infant and child burial, natural burial or shrouded cremation, bringing your child home for a time, and more. We also have a small but beautiful selection of baby and child cremation urns.

Funerals for Stillborn Babies

If your baby is born still, we can source a ‘cold cuddle cot’ so that you can take your baby home for a precious time, and have a safe and secure place for your angel baby to stay when you’re not holding them.

Birth Support for Miscarriage or Pregnancy Loss

Kimba is a trained birth attendant, who completed her studies with birth doyenne Rhea Dempsey. She is able to sit with and assist a birthing person who is labouring to birth a child who has died, offering support as both a birth doula and a deathcare professional.

Funerals for Children

We’re able to support you through the whole heartwrenching process of arranging a funeral for your child, offering practical and emotional support as well as working tirelessly to ensure your vision for the perfect farewell becomes a reality. We can assist you with choosing burial or cremation for your child, finding the perfect venue to hold the funeral, and ensuring that the day reflects your child’s beautiful uniqueness.

  • Memorial Tree planting

    NB: If your child’s burial happens on a different day to your initial funeral, a fee of $500 applies.

Baby and Child Coffin Options

We understand this such a heart wrenching decision to make, but also one that some families spend a lot of time considering. There are many options and we’re here to help you. Our core values are offering things that are affordable, cosy and sustainable.

Angel Box

Many pre-term stillborn babes will be placed in an Angel Box at the hospital, and this is a perfectly good and cosy option for your babe to be cremated or buried in. We can also provide an angel box if needed.

Wicker Basket

This option is included in all our funeral and vigil packages, with the addition of a soft cotton blanket and knitted toy. Some families also choose to add this coffin to the cremation package. The cost for this is $249 as an additional option. This coffin comes in a few different sizes from pre-term to full-term babe.

Wicker Casket (Child - 150cm)

We personally designed this beautiful casket because there was nothing available for older children, or for people who wanted to fill their child’s casket with toys or keepsakes. Crafted in Indonesia in a sustainable and fair factory we have personally visited and created a partnership with.

Sanctuary Casket

This solid Alder casket comes in baby and toddler sizes, and is a more traditional option for those who like it old-skool. Prices from $1200-$1600 depending on size.
