Weddings with The Last Hurrah
Weddings with a funeral company?
It might seem strange or different, but something extraordinary is that many of the grieving people we assist through dark times invite us back to help them celebrate love, life and new chapters.
And we couldn’t be more thrilled!
Our co-founder Kimba is a registered marriage celebrant who started her ceremonial work joining lovebirds together, and playing music at hundreds of weddings.
In recent times we’ve been bringing the Last Hurrah vibe of welcome drinks and good vibes to the wedding ceremonies we create, with our team on hand to look after whatever ceremonial vision you want to bring.
We want a Last Hurrah Wedding too!
Originally Kimba was only going to offer this ceremonial juju to folks who had previously had a funeral with us - that’s how this whole thing unfolded - but lately she’s in the mood to balance out the deep and sad work of farewelling legends with a hefty dose of
YAY FOR LOVE!

The Last Hurrah Weddings Origin Story
In 2021 as the long dark days of the COVID pandemic and endless lockdowns stretched on, a Melbourne artist was travelling the most difficult road possible. After losing her son Steve to suicide, Di Ellis came across the Last Hurrah and together we enacted a dream we both shared - to have a funeral at the legendary Melbourne Music Icon - The Tote.
We farewelled Steve in his favourite venue, with his favourite band, Viking Metal legends Barbarion, and had a funeral that involved beer, live metal and lots of moshing.
Unfortunately Di then had to plan another two funerals in as many months - making it a trio of loss in such a short amount of time. Through all this her beloved Harry had been a rock and a deep source of comfort, so it seemed only natural by then that The Last Hurrah round of this year of sorrow with the Wedding of Di and Harry. And so we did!
The beautiful embroidery pieces above are Di’s work.
